What are we all doing?

The older I get the more I realise how little I know. There is always so much to learn and the world is forever changing. Information is constantly updating. It seems to me that most of us are bumbling along doing the best we can as no one has all the answers. Some people are much better at acting as they have everything under control even though that isn’t their reality.

The interesting thing about  my job is that I get to see how many people aren’t coping despite their attempts to portray themselves as super confident and ‘super-together’ on the outside.

If someone ever tells you they know everything and have everything under control they are either lying to you and they are in major denial! I guess the consolation to be taken from this is that we all pretty clueless as we progress in our lives. We are all improving and I am defnitely an improved version of my younger self in terms of maturity, being less impulsive and more considerate of bigger issues in the world. I think it is vital to be working on yourself – learning and becoming more enlightened but there is still a limit to our understanding. The way we treat each other (eg, wars etc) and the way we destroy the planet are clear signs that we are still learning and pretty primitive!

We busy ourselves with our lives and rarely look up to check progress and make sure we are contributing in an effective way. Research indicates that the more we give to others and the more meaning and purpose we have in our lives, the happier we are. If this is true, it is important that we think about life beyond ourselves, think of others more and be kinder. This seems a fab idea to me as it can only make the planet a nicer place to live for all of us.
