Couples Counselling in Guildford & Online
Relationships can be one of the greatest sources of support — and also one of the biggest sources of stress. If you and your partner are struggling to communicate, feeling disconnected, or stuck in repeated conflicts, couples therapy can help you understand each other more deeply and rebuild trust, intimacy, and respect.
I work with couples in Guildford, Surrey and online worldwide, providing a safe, neutral space to explore what’s going wrong and how to make things feel better again.
Common Relationship Issues I Support
Over the years, I’ve helped couples from all backgrounds work through a wide range of challenges, including:
• Decision-making around divorce or separation
When you’re unsure whether to stay or go, therapy can help you gain clarity, reduce fear, and explore what each partner truly needs.
• Infidelity and trust breaches
Affairs and betrayals can feel devastating. Together we can explore what led to the rupture, whether repair is possible, and how to rebuild trust if both partners choose to.
• Communication breakdown and constant conflict
If you struggle to talk without arguments, misunderstandings, or withdrawal, I can help you learn healthier ways to express needs and reconnect.
• Neurodiverse relationships (e.g., autistic–neurotypical couples)
Many couples face unique challenges when one partner is autistic and the other is neurotypical. I provide guidance on communication styles, emotional needs, sensory differences, and practical strategies for reducing frustration and building understanding.
• Emotional or psychological abuse
Including coercive control, gaslighting, manipulation, and narcissistic behaviours. I offer a safe space to unpack your experiences, understand the dynamics, and consider your next steps with clarity and support.
• Disconnection, lack of intimacy, or feeling like “flatmates”
We can work together to rebuild emotional closeness, improve empathy, and reignite connection.
• Stress, life changes, and external pressures
Parenthood, financial stress, health issues, bereavement and big transitions can all strain a relationship. Therapy helps couples renegotiate roles and support each other through change.
How Couples Therapy Helps
In sessions, we will look at:
Why conflict keeps repeating
Each partner’s emotional needs and triggers
How early experiences shape current patterns
Tools for calmer communication
Strategies for trust-building and repair
Ways to reconnect emotionally and physically
How to create healthier relationship habits
My approach blends CBT, attachment theory, and compassion-focused work to give both partners insight and practical tools they can use at home.
