Never give up

There are times when we all feel like giving up. There are a few things you can do though to help you keep pushing through. Never give up.

Don’t take your thoughts too seriously

When we feel under threat – for instance when we think we might lose our job or face rejection in some way or be made to feel unworthy, it can takes it’s toll. Our inner bully tends to join in with thoughts like: “I told you you could never do it”. etc..but these are just thoughts. Your vulnerabilites and fears are always echoed by your inner bully but it doesn’t mean that they are true.

Don’t withdraw from others

This is a very common behaviour when we feel low or threatened but it’s the worst thing you can do. The more you withdraw, the worse it will get. Force yourself to speak to others, reach out to people. It can seem the hardest thing to do but it will help you immensely. We all need social support, even if you think you can’t tell your friends, there will be a sympathetic ear and you would probably be surprised at how many people are there for you. All you need is one person to care and to listen. Reach out!

Don’t stop trying

Don’t see yourself as a quitter. As long as you have breath left in that body, you can still keep forging forward. It doesn’t have to be a big goal, at times my only goal has been to get out of bed before midday! Keep adding small goals and build them up over time. Take action – inaction leads to a lower mood and research proves this time and time again.

Never give up hope

It may be a big ask but hope is something that no one can ever take away from you. Hope that things will improve. Talk to yourself with compassion, as you would a good friend. One thing that is certain is that life will never be the same, it is always changing. Go with the flow. Don’t resist what is. make the best of the situation.

It can be tough to stay on top of challenging situation and mental health is vital in pulling us through at times. Try to stay busy, try to keep doing small tasks as often as possible. Write them down to remind yourself of your accomplishments – even if it is just getting out of bed an hour earlier!

Be proud of yourself

Don’t let what others say pull you down. Nurture your self belief. Care less what others think. What’s more important is do you like who you are? Can you look in the mirror and say “I like you, You are living according to good values”. For me it’s important tp maintain integrity – as in what you see is what you get. I try to be straight forward, I can’t stand two faced people who are all smiles but the minute your back in turned they are saying bad stuff about you. I avoid people like that like the plague. My girlfriends are all wonderful human beings – straight forward, down to earth and with no airs and graces.

Never forget that you are special in your own way. There will NEVER be another person, you as a package, ever again. I think that’s something to celebrate.
