Don’t get yourself in trouble

You can’t avoid anxiety when you go to an exam unprepared. That’s why it’s better to plan things in advance and calculate the time correctly to learn the subject properly. That way you’ll save a considerable amount of nerve cells.

 

Ways to overcome anxiety before exams and tests

Set yourself up positively

Set yourself on a positive wave. For example: “The exam is important. The test will affect my grades, my admission (scholarship). But I can cope because I have studied all the tickets. Thousands of schoolchildren (students) have taken this exam before me, and I can do it.” Think of an important event as one of life’s little tests, where you have to perform at your best. There will be more to come, so take care of your nervous system.

 

What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger

For a positive change in your life, change your attitude to the situation. Think about possible scenarios and do not rule out the possibility of failure. For example, you may think: “If I do not pass the exam for 9, I do not get the required score of certificates, I will have to apply for a fee or to another university, where the pass mark is lower” or “I will go to retake the exam – I will try to learn everything, and next semester necessarily get a scholarship”. Solve problems, not suffer because of them.

 

Don’t keep your worries to yourself

It’s easier to take control when you share your emotions with others. You can discuss questions at the door before an exam, support each other, and wish each other good luck. Distract yourself by repeating the material and reading the most difficult topics. That way you can forget about the jitters for a while.

 

Learn how to breathe

If an event is about to start and your nerves are on edge, use a clever trick. There’s an effective breathing exercise that helps you calm down. Take four counts to breathe in and hold the air for two seconds. Then breathe out for four seconds and hold your breath again for two seconds. If the volume of the lungs allows, the intervals can be increased (six to three or eight to four).

 

Concentrate

To stop being nervous, sometimes it’s enough to gather your thoughts and focus on the important event. Check if you have everything with you, run a planned scenario in your head. If it’s an exam, don’t panic, but read the questions thoughtfully and try to remember the material. By gradually writing down the facts, you’ll be able to trigger your mechanical and visual memory and remember much more theory than you thought at first.

 

How not worry about studying?

One important part of life (at least 11 years) is spent in school. School and college students experience the most stress because of it. Worries about grades, exams, and admission, relationships with teachers and classes are just some of the most common causes.

 

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes

We go to school and university to gain knowledge. At this stage, it is normal to make mistakes. Don’t be embarrassed to speak in front of a class or group. It’s just preparation for your future life and working through your stress management skills. You will definitely need this skill at work.

 

Don’t chase grades

For many students, studying is a race to get good grades. But sometimes an average student achieves higher grades than a crammer because he or she concentrates on knowledge. Of course, this argument isn’t exactly true for grad school, when every grade counts. Take care of the quality of your knowledge. It’s what will get you into a good college or university.

 

Throw out the patterns

The classic pattern is that a student goes to 1st grade, studies diligently for 11 years, and graduates with a good diploma straight to college. That doesn’t mean it has to be the same for you. You can go to school after 9th grade and later go to college and build a career. Alternatively, you can get a few more degrees after college and work out of your degree. Or even with a high school education after courses to work at a BT company. Throw away the stereotypes and look for your ways of self-development.

 

Solve problems as they arise

Learn to plan your day so you can allocate time to prepare for exams, the SAT, or your thesis or dissertation. That way you can be sure you’ll get everything done in time. And you won’t need to panic at the last moment, grabbing your textbooks and biting your elbows.

 

Don’t forget to rest

Make sure to take time to rest. Sometimes to calm your nerves, you need to relax. A well-deserved rest can be a favorite hobby, meeting with friends, watching your favorite movies, and just a good night’s sleep. After a reset, you’ll look at everything with fresh eyes, and you’ll be more productive in your studies.

 

What to do if you’re nervous all the time?

Find the cause of your nervousness. If there is nothing wrong with your health and the body has enough nutrients, the cause is something else. Often the nerves wobble because of overwork or personal and household issues. A sure way to cope with the problems – is to switch to another activity. A good anti-stress will be a trip to cultural events, shopping, cooking or meeting with friends, etc. When nervousness came from fatigue, it’s better to leave everything for later and sleep, take a bath, or go for a massage.

Don’t limit yourself to a one-time vacation. As the proverb says, in a healthy body – a healthy spirit. Therefore, regular sleep, exercise, walking in the fresh air, and proper nutrition will solve the problem with stress.
