How to preserve student’s mental health

The main threat to mental health is stress (or rather severe stress – distress), which causes inadequate and pathogenic behavior. Political life events, workplace problems, material problems and simply using the public transport can lead to stressful situations.
The dynamic rhythm of life, the intensity of intellectual activity in production, at school, the complexity of inter-social relations in the conditions of the market formation and other circumstances disturb the traditional way of life causing the emergence of mental health disorders.
To prevent negative consequences of the influence of distress factors on the human body, the effective means of prevention of health disorders are the following widely known hygienic guidelines for a healthy way of life.

A balanced diet.

Eat healthy and homemade food, do not overeat.  The diet of a student must be rich in vitamins. It is necessary to adhere to the daily regime of eating. Lunch and dinner must be the most caloric, rich in protein. Drinking plenty of water, fruits, vegetables helps to control emotions, maintain a stable state of the body.

And a balanced lifestyle.

It is very important for mental health to follow the daily routine. Getting up and going to bed early.  It is very important to correctly combine physical activity and rest (sleep should last at least 8-10 hours).
Spend more time on fresh air. Try to harmonize types of activities, both educational and playful. Often students are overloaded, which often causes overload (chronic condition, which can lead to illness), so it is essential to regulate the load, which is a crucial element of protecting your mental health. Some services like or productive apps on smartphones can balance the overloading.

 Control your own emotions.

The ability to control negative emotions is an important factor of mental health, an indicator of emotional intelligence. The reasons for aggression (both physical and verbal) can be fear, a transferred image, mental trauma, disruption of social relations between the child and the elderly, etc. It is important to choose the best way to express negative emotions (talk about the situation that arises and share your feelings with others).

Change negative thinking into positive thinking.

Depending on the type of educational and cognitive activity of the child’s thinking is different. Teachers and parents should stop presenting negative information to students every day, stop criticizing everything in the presence of children, and stop analyzing political events that are taking place in the country and beyond its borders, etc.
