Comfort Zone

Your comfort zone is that place where you feel safe and everything is familiar. It is a wonderful place to be as we can let down our guard and relax. When you’re in your comfort zone there is little anxiety. The problem is, when you decide to leave your comfort zone it can bring on the fight or flight syndrome and cause fear and anxiety and possibly even panic.

You will find however, that as you push out of your comfort zone and try new experiences, these new experiences will merge with your existing comfort zone. By this I mean that what you previously found frightening will no longer scare you. This is the key to personal growth. You become more at ease with situations that you regularly experience. If you shy away from your experiences your comfort zone will stay the same. Staying in your comfort zone may feel safe as there is no risk and no change to have to deal with but there is also no growth. many of life’s greatest rewards come from being brave. There is a lot to be said about that exhilarating feeling when you accomplish something new. That amazing moment when you realise that you can achieve something that you always thought was impossible or beyond you. You will never understand what you are made of if you do not regularly step out of your comfort zone.

Of course it is necessary to weigh up the pros and cons and to be aware of any risks involved that over-analysing can lead to paralysis. It is only through testing yourself that you can grow.expand your comfort zone and you will feel more alive. You will challenge is limiting beliefs that you have about yourself-that’s what life is about.

Fear of failure is a common reason why people do not step out of their comfort zones. but many people do not realise that staying within your comfort zone allows mental fears to grow bigger and can make us more fearful of life. Regularly ask yourself “what is the worst that can happen?”. Most of the time you will find the joints patient and worries are not what reality presents. challenge the “what ifs” by just going for it. Consider failure as a learning process, one step closer to success.start with small manageable steps and begin increasing your comfort zone today. Send me your stories, I would love to hear them!
