8 Best Places to Propose Anywhere in the World

Every year, a little more than 2.2 million people get married in the US.

While the wedding is definitely the main event, we all know that the proposal is almost just as important.

If you’ve decided to propose to that special someone in your life, you’re probably wondering where you should propose.

If you’re looking to do something a bit out of the ordinary, check out this guide to learn about the best places to propose in the world.

  1. Eiffel Tower, Paris

Paris is the city of love, so it should come as no surprise that the Eiffel Tower is one of the best places to propose in the world.

However, keep in mind that the Eiffel Tower can be quite crowded, so if you’re going to propose here, we suggest doing it later in the evening or early in the morning.

Or, you could head to a romantic spot in Paris that overlooks the Eiffel Tower, such as the Terrass Hotel in Montmarte. This hotel has a 7th-floor rooftop that offers a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower as well as the entire city of Paris.

Plus, the restaurant is highly-rated and it won’t break the bank.

  1. Cliffs ofMoher, Ireland

When people think of romantic destinations around the world, Ireland usually isn’t the first place to come to mind for most people.

However, the Cliffs of Moher offer a romantic, natural scenery that rivals that of Paris.

This area is filled with charming seaside villages, lush rolling hills, and of course, dramatic cliffs overlooking the sea.

Although this is an incredibly popular attraction in Ireland, the cliffs stretch for 8km. This means that you’ll have no trouble finding privacy to propose to your partner.

  1. Northern Lights, Iceland

If you really want to hit your proposal out of the park, then you need to do it below the Northern Lights in Iceland.

However, in order to propose beneath the Northern Lights, some planning is required. You’ll have the best chance of seeing the lights from September to April, as this is when the skies are at their clearest.

To get the best showing of the Northern Lights, you’ll definitely want to head out of the capital, Reykjavik. You can rent a car and head to any one of the surrounding small towns.

One we highly suggest is Landmannalaugar. Not only is this a great town for viewing the Northern Lights, but it also has plenty of geothermal baths and natural scenery.

  1. Venice, Italy

When it comes to the most romantic cities in the world, Venice is right up there with Paris.

After all, this is where George Clooney and Amal Clooney chose to get married, along with plenty of others.

Even for those who hate cliches, there’s no denying the beauty and romance of the city’s cobblestoned alleys, hidden bridges, and of course, gondola-filled canals.

  1. Havasu Falls, Arizona

Havasu Falls is arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world, yet not many people know about it.

This natural wonderland is tucked away in the southwest corner of the Grand Canyon.

If you and your partner both enjoy the outdoors, then this is the perfect proposal spot. You can begin your day with a hike that leads to the fall’s red rocks and emerald blue waters.

At the falls, there are plenty of hidden spots where you can escape with your loved one to propose. Then, you can enjoy the rest of the day bathing around the falls until you want to hike back.

  1. Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Another ideal proposal location for outdoor lovers and hikers is Rocky National Park in Colorado.

This national park is home to lush valleys, gentle streams, and numerous peaks that rise above 12,000 feet. Plus, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife in this park, from elk to deer to bighorn sheep.

You can embark on any number of hikes to pop the question, or you can take a drive through the park until you find the perfect spot.

Rocky Mountain National Park is also home to the world-famous Stanley Hotel. And, although this hotel was the inspiration for the Shining, it is anything but spooky in real life. With its beautiful architecture and perfectly manicured gardens, the Stanly Hotel offers another great place in the park to pop the question.

  1. Central Park, New York

Central Park is another iconic spot to propose to your loved one.

Although it’s the most visited park in the United States, it’s still pretty easy to find a semi-secluded spot in the park to pop the question.

One place we definitely recommend for your proposal is the Bow Bridge. This bridge is situated right in the middle of the park and it overlooks the lake, where you can see wildlife and people enjoying the rowboats.

If you’d really like to kick the proposal up a notch, we suggest renting a rowboat and popping the question there.

Just keep in mind that a lot of muggings happen in this park, so be sure to keep your gemstone rings close to you.

8.  NeuschwansteinCastle, Germany

If you’re looking to create a fairytale proposal, the Neuschwanstein Castle is the place to go.

This castle, located in Bavaria, Germany, looks like it’s been plucked straight out of the page of a fairytale. And, as if the castle weren’t pretty enough, it’s also surrounded by a number of hiking trails, dense forests, and it even has the Austrian Alps as its backdrop.

A great place to propose here is on the Marienbrücke bridge, which is just a 15-minute walk from the castle and is situated perfectly between two cliffs.
